Namsangol Hanok Village

After 5 days of wandering around and fighting our hardest not to go inside every cutesy looking shop, it was time to do something cultural :)

The weather was nice, the sun was shining, so the timing couldn’t be more perfect. (past few days were pretty cold and windy…).

In the midst of Chungmuro city center, we found the Namsangol Hanok Village. It’s a traditional Korean Village with 5 restored traditional Korean houses, surrounded by a beautiful little parc.
There is also a time capsule commemorating Seoul’s 600 Year Anniversary that was buried in 1994 and is scheduled to be reopened four hundred years later in 2394!

Carry my bag, ahjussi?

Annyeonghaseyo!

After a long flight destination Seoul (including a delay of 3 hours in Helsinki) we finally arrived in South-Korea last saturday, march 26 around noon.

We actually had no clue where our dormitory was located at the Yonsei University, hence the taxi driver just dropped us at the front gate. It turned out to be a huge complex with a kind of park inside and we were starting to get a little bit nervous. The road to our dorm was one with of hills, stairs up and down, disorientation, frustration and lots of muscles aches. Most people were just standing there and gniffling while we were struggling with those overloaded luggages. Hello, what happened with all the gallant men helping some ladies in need??

But in the end, afer a few broken nails and callous, we managed to reach the SK Global House and received our key to the room.

For the curious ones: hereby some pictures of our first taste of the city.

Infinitely Yours, Seoul

I’m planning on going to Korea next year” is what she said to me some time last year. It was all Em’s idea but I got fond of the idea of having another “foreign experience”. One thing led to another and now almost a year later, the time has come, our bags are packed and ready for takeoff!

Tomorrow around noon, we will be leaving Belgium.  We’ll be living in Seoul for the coming 3 months, trying to learn a little bit of Korean along the way (not expecting too much though).  To keep some of you guys updated, I created this blog (will try to update from time to time to keep you posted). I hope you get pleasure out of reading the blog in times of boredom (at work or elsewhere :) )!

1 plane, two girls and 40 kilo of luggage, this is how the journey starts! :-)
